Orient Ray II Automatic 200M FAA02005D9 Men’s Watch

The Orient Ray II Automatic 200M FAA02005D9 Men’s Watch is perhaps the best automatic dive watch you could have within a reasonable price range, especially if you’re just starting out in this interesting world of horological marvels.

I am not a professional diver, my experience with diving is limited to the swimming pool. Deep sea diving? Oh no, that’s not my cup of tea either. But then, I love the way dive watches are made –they are sturdy and waterproof, in fact they are much more than merely water proof, they are highly resistant to the waters of the deep sea.

I consider myself to be somewhat of a watch enthusiast, although I am just a beginner. The clarity of the dial is what I generally look for in a watch and dive watches are made with one object in mind – maximum readability of the dial while diving. Like me, most of the folks who purchase a dive watch rarely go diving with it. They just want a tough and rugged watch that scores top marks in the looks department as well. And, there’s no doubt that the Orient Ray II Automatic is one handsome timepiece.

Powered by the in-house Orient movement, namely the Caliber F6922 which allows hacking and hand winding, this is the typical diver’s watch that can easily be submerged to a depth of 660 feet or 200 meters.

The dial of the Orient Ray II FAA02005D9 is an attractive deep blue colour. Look closely and you’ll see a beautiful reflective star-burst pattern. The watch features a mineral crystal. There is very little text on the dial although the prominent Orient logo sits proudly at the 12 o’clock mark.  If you like, the Orient Ray II is also available in a black dial option.

The applied indices are complemented by a framed day and date window at 3 o’clock marker. The minute and hour hands are designed as a pair of swords. These, like the hour indices and seconds markings are filled with luminescent paint to ensure easy readability in poor light conditions. The seconds hand is tipped with red accents, giving a lovely touch to the overall appearance of the watch.

A ratcheted uni-directional bezel defines this watch’s diving personality. The round stainless-steel case presents smooth flowing lines with a screw down case back. The Orient Ray II automatic comes with a stainless-steel link bracelet that sits well with the watch, although you could fit it with a NATO strap or even a leather one.

The Orient Ray II is an inexpensive mechanical dive watch which looks fabulous on the wrist. Even if you’re not a diver like me, this is one classy timepiece that would go well for any occasion. Check it out at https://www.citywatches.co.uk/.
